Default snow flake in dash

What does the snow flake that appears in the dash beside the outside temp? I cant seem to finf any reference to it in the manual, btw 2012 S60

I've always assumed that it lights up when the outside temp is at the threshold of freezing... I guess to let you know that you might come across ice on the roads.

Perfectly normal, you assume right. When ambient temperature drops below 5 deg. Celsius the snowflake will appear for the reasons explained above ;-)

Mine usually comes on at about 36 degrees F and goes off at about 24 degrees F.

As does mine. comes on at 36 f and suddenly no more flake around 20.. Guess you don't need a visual when it gets that cold. You can feel it.


HOWEVER I am from CA, Im sure you guys in the east know a lot more about cold than I do.
