Solenoid and miss firing
i brought my s60 (non turbo) to the dealer for a flashing Check engine light and a message saying shift up or slow down.
The computer is generating a misfire in c Cyl 2 & 5
They tested the transmission and it is fine
They tested the the electronic throttlemodule and its fine
Replaced spark plugs
Swapped coils to see if they were the issue and they are fine. (Still received mis fire
They are not sure why this code is coming up.
The next thing they want to do is change the VVT Solenoid -$270 more I Just gave them $207
It seems that they are just fishing for the cause.
Any other ideas??

RE: Solenoid and miss firing
In cases when computer indicates that a sylindar misfires, it most likely means that you will need to change all 5 sparkplugs and all 5 coils. Sometimes computer ECM gives a code that is rather approximate and does not tell you which cylinder exactly is not working properly. At times it might be a good idea to go see an idependent mechanic who is knowledgeble in Volvos and has a good diagnostic tools.

RE: Solenoid and miss firing
Vovlo final Diagnose the problem after $900 worht of work. When I had the transmission rebuit by Aamco they broke teh spead sensor. Instead of replacing the Sensor they decided to clue it together with Gorilla glue.
I am in the process of getting my $900 from Aamco.
