Hi this is my 1st post here, have had my 1997 v40 2.0cdi for 6 years now with very little problems but 2 days ago my wife went to start it and it would not run properly and the anti skid light was on.

She called the AA and he said its not firing on plug 2 and taped the lead on both ends this worked and the skid light also went out and she got the car home. I have changed all the leads today as the AA man said to and car drove for a couple of miles ok then after turning off for 5 mins and restarted we had the same problem again after removing the leads while running, I noticed it is not firing on num 2 and 3 this suggests the ignition coil for 2 and 3 as there is another coil for 1 and 4 which is ok.

Does anyone know why the anti skid light would come on when this happens and if it could be the coil pack.

Check the wiring harness from the fiewall to the coils, it can short out and cause the same problem. Get your parts from Palasades Volvo Mazda by mail from New York. They are real Volvo parts, but heavily discounted.
