My wife got home tonight and said the SRS Airbag Service Urgent was lit. I took the car up to a neighbors house and when I went to leave there was no dash light, no tach, no spedo, nothing.

So where do I go from here?Earlier I was doing some internet searches and saw this place --- is this where I am headed?

Is there really a problem with the SRS Airbag or was it just the DIM going haywire.

I've only owned the car since Aug 2013 and this is the first big issue I've had with it so I am a bit of a newbie.

Looking at the price of rebuilt one's makes the dash on my XJ6 look small change and a new one must be crazy.


Update --- just went out to see if the dash is back on and yes, in the fashion of computer stuff -- it is back on but still has the SRS Airbag lit.

Im no expert but it could be well a DIM repair. When the DIM goes off, the SRS system can't access it any long (in case it needs to display a SRS fault) so it triggers the srs message. Usually when the DIM goes bad it shuts off for a while then goes back and so on.

 

Once the dash went out for a while and then later came back on I decided it was time for a DIM repair.
