Default SRS Service warning

first off, I'm glad I can actually post again, i hated not being aboe to post or respond to questions!

Now my problem, as I posted a while back I had the alt. go out on my 01 2.4t and didn't want to do the work myself (lazy...) so I took it to an indipendent Volvo shop. Well, turns out the shop is a joke, wanted to replace all the switches in the car after the alt. went out, didn't even know all you had to do was unlock the car with the key. so after fixing several other issues they caused (ended up replacing the alt. myself because they where hacks) the only issue left is the SRS service message and dash light that came on the day after I got the car back from them. He said he pulled the code and it was the drivers side impact bag malfunction, but I don;t know what would have caused this to go bad? Is there any way, other than paying mucho bucks at the stealership to clear the dash warnings? If the bag is malfunctioning is there any information on servicing it myself? I redid the entire SRS system in my BMW 325is, but there was lots of info on it, can't find any useful info for this car?

Did he try clearing them?

You should be able to do it depending on which codes they are. I can get you info.

Hey tech, thanks for the help, got the sunroof working thanks to you!

I don't know if he tried to clear the SRS code or not, he wouldn't even talk about what could be the cause. I tried my cheap OBD reader but it wouldn't read the SRS code, and didn't clear it when I reset the CEL. How would you suggest I proceed? I really don't think it's anything actually wrong with the air bag due to the timing of the SRS warning coming on right after I got the car back.

You need to find someone that can read and clear the SRS. Thats the only way.
