Default Strange steering issue

2002 S60.

About a month ago, I was leaking power steering fluid and my mechanic said that the rack was leaking and needed to be replaced. Ouch. Some stuff happened and I wound up not driving the car much for the next month.

The car has always had, or so I remember, very light steering. When I picked it up after the repair, everything seemed normal and did the few times that I drove it.

However, leaving work yesterday, it seems like the steering got stiffer after I turned the wheel about 90 degrees. Slight turns and everything feels like I remember. First off, I'm wondering if I misremembered what the steering was like because I hadn't been driving it. Or . . . . is there something wrong with the new rack?

Maybe the mechanic didn't purge the air out? Not difficult to do on your own

Thanks. It looks pretty easy to do. I'll do that on my next day off.
