Stuck in Park Position/ Freezing Temperature S60
Thanks you to all those who gave opinions on how to solve my "stuck in park"
Dilemma. I think it was directly due to spilled water a few days before onto the console. Our temperatures here dropped to -15C ( -23F ) I plugged in my hair dryer to an extension cord and heated the gear shift for 3-5 minutes. Turned off engine, restarted- voila! It worked two hours later but after four hours in freezing temperatures, same problem. Day later : car is parked nowhere near an electrical plug and will need to towed or wait until spring thaw.

Quelle horreur!
Can you hook up an inverter to your battery, then use a heat gun or hair dryer to warm the linkage and bring the car back to civilization?
Just an idea.
I know an 850 owner who is an IRGAS mechanic, so he tore out the dash, put an inverter in place and uses a heat gun to defrost his windshield. He runs all winter that way. And he lives in a city, has a heated garage and is retired, so lots of time on his hands.
