Tell me about your car
I am thinking about getting a 2001 s60 T5 with around 80k-100k miles on it. Are they reliable, what are the major problems? Is there a better year? Do you like yours? tell me anything you want about them all helps.
Well, according to what I'll enigmatically describe as a leading consumer magazine that prides itself on objectivity, the '01 models are less reliable
than later models. First year heebie jeebies, I guess.

I have a 2001 S60 with 100,350 miles on it & it's still as good as new. As is with everything else in Volvo world, you need to keep up with maintenance... The only headache I've really had with this car is that I very often need to replace a burnt light bulb. Usually one of the rear light bulbs. The first thing you should check is the transmission fluid. If it looks dark brown & smells burnt, that means it needs to be changed because it wasn't taken care of. Also check the oil filler cap & see if there is any oil sludge residue on the filler spout & on the cap. If you do buy it & it has already between 50,000 to 70,000 miles on it, change the timing belt!!!! It's worth to go ahead & change it for a $50 part than for it to break on you & cost thousands of dollars of damage to your engine. Take it for a ride... you are the ultimate judge... As I said, I keep up with my maintenance & am very happy. Good Luck!
