Default Is there a safe reliable way to check transmission fluid

I have a 2013 Volvo S60 T5 fwd that I bought with 110,000 miles on it and the fluid was never changed. I did a drain and fill using car ramps. I measured the fluid that came out and put the same amount in using correct fluid. Now I want to make sure that level is correct. But all the local shops around here want to make a big deal on a 15 minute procedure. I was wondering if there was a way I could do it myself.
Any help in this matter would be appreciated.

Sure - warm trans fluid up to 50degrees Celsius. (verify temp with compatible scan tool) With engine running shift into all gear positions, 2 seconds in each gear and do that twice. With shifter in park (engine still running, car on a level surface) remove the belly pan and the inner drain plug - be prepared to collect escaping (hot) fluid. If no fluid comes out - the fluid is low. If fluid does - the fluid is high. Careful - the fluid will be hot! Drain till it stops leaking. If low be sure to turn off engine to top it up - Put plug in, add fluid, warm new fluid to 50, then repeat the procedure until fluid leaks out. (and stops leaking) Use a new seal on the inner drain plug. ( i'm certain you saw the level tube built into the outer drain plug when you had it out)

Thank you, but I know that much. I guess what I meant is there a safe way of doing it without using a lift . All I have is car ramps and 2 jack stands. I did get in touch with a mechanic that was my auto shop teacher (many years ago) and he said he'd let me use his lift and he'd let me do it myself. I just can't believe the mechanics in my area are making a big deal out of something a kid could do. I want to do it myself at home if I can safely, and not having to bother a mechanic.

Well - I could see that simple procedure taking longer than 15 minutes - So I'm not sure what your complaint is. Your local shops simply want to be paid for their time.

Once the transmission is warmed up it doesn't take long to drop the skid plate and to remove the level plug. . I'm not too worried about it. I measured what came out and put the same amount back in. That fill plug was on factory tight, so more than likely it's never been removed. I'm just going to wait a couple weeks when that guy said I could use his lift. He'll let me do whatever I need to do. Money isn't an issue, my regular mechanic retired and now I'm having a hard time finding someone that feels comfortable taking on a Volvo , which isn't that hard of a car to work on compared to others. Since I plan on doing another drain and fill in the future I'm probably better off buying two more jack stands just in case I don't find a mechanic soon.
