Default Thinking of buying an S60

I'm in the market for a used vehicle, and found an S60 at my local dealership. My question is, does the 2002 Volvo S60 have any known problems? Please let me know what ya'll think. Thanks,
Matt

They are asking $7,890. It is a 2002 2.4L L5. No known mechanical problems, accidents, or bodywork.

It has 100,240 miles on it. The dealer, who is also the maintenance shop I have used for the last 8 years, states no known mechanical problems, accidents, or bodywork. All scheduled maintenance has been performed. Previous owner was a non-smoker. I had heard that the S60 had electrical problems in one of the early 2000's models, and was wondering if ya'll had any thoughts to that...
Thanks,
Matt

I agree. Starting in 2003 the S60 is a pretty reliable car but the earlier versions had the tendency to develop transmission issues pass 100k miles. Also at that mileage you will have to get the timing belt replaced if is has not been done yet. If it was me I would not take the chance on earlier than 2003 model.

For comparison I bought an 02 s60 AWD w/128,000 miles for $5600 last December. Keep in mind used cars generally cost less in Chicago, which is why I did my Christmas shopping there. So far I have had nothing done outside of general maintenance other than having a key fob bought and programmed.

You did not mention whether the camshaft belt had been replaced, if not it is due anytime from now to very soon.

Sorry I didn't write sooner, I couldn't access this site yesterday. The dealer had already sold the car when I called him. Thanks for the information!
