Hello thinking of buying an s60
Hi there. I read all about transmission problems on the forum here and fixes for such. I am in the process of buying a 2002 s60 non turbo automatic car.
I picked it up yesterday and checked lights and small stuff. Today I drove it over the Altamont pass and put about 80 miles on it.
Everything seemed ok. In city traffic going slow it seemed to not want to go into any special gear, like sloppy shifting. Back onto the freeway and runs like a top.
I will be paying 2000 for this car and have until 6 o'clock tomorrow, the 21st, to bring it back if I don't want it.
My question, If this needs a trans down the road are used any good or should I just forget this car altogether. I am going to check the servo piece I read about tomorrow but don't want to put a lot of money into something that isn't mine yet.
Are these hard to rebuild? I have done VW automatics, Ford AOD, 700R4.
Usually I just get a book and follow instructions but so far am not familiar with Japanese 5 speed automatics.
Bottom line, is the trans update and oil change seem like a possible cure?
Thanks, I talk a lot sorry
