Default suspension confirmation?

Ok so I did my research on this forum and think that my spring seat has gone bad, but can anyone confirm this?

-sharp clack noise in driver front wheel area, always when going over bumps, something sounds loose.
-took off the plastic cover over strut mount under hood, was able to turn the big bolt (22 mm one) with my hands, it was fairly loose, didn't even need a wrench...

I don't have a compressor to fix this but at least it's not too $$ a fix. Thanks all happy holidays

I have the same problem on the passenger side. What are the steps to replacing the spring seat. I have the seat and spring compressor but not sure of the steps to get it done. Any suggestions?

It is pretty easy.
Remove the sway bar link,ABS sensor.
Remove the 2 screws that go through the hub.
Then remove the 3 13mm screws under the hood.
The entire assembly comes out. Then compress the spring and take the rest apart and swap out the spring seat.

Alot of people say an alignment needs to be done afterwords. I disagree with that.
If the hose was slotted yes. There isn't enough play to throw hte alignment off far enough to matter.

Make sure you only take out the 3 13 muts up top and not the big one.
The big one gets loosened only after the spring is compressed.
Yes only compress with it out of the car.

thanks tech, having a lot of trouble with the 2 bolts that hold it to the hub. Other than that it looks like it should come apart fairly easily.
