Tire Sizes
The 01 T5 I just bought has the base 16's and they need new tires bad. I'd really like to upsize, but I can't convince the wife to let me spend the $ right now since I mainly bought the car to drive to work. So, I'm stuck with the 16's for now. I've searched through a few threads and it seems like some say to stick with a 225 width, but some run 235 and 245. What sizes can you run without rubbing on the stock wheels?
Thanks guys!

I have an '01 T5 w/ 17" wheels and I HATE them.
Harsh ride, easy to bend a wheel on bad roads, no decent long-mileage tires available reasonably priced.
I actually downsized from 235/45-17 to 215/50-17 (same rolling diameter) to get rid of trammelling where tires follow every road irregularity.
The 215s Hankook V12 evo K110 are GREAT. I don't notice less grip.
Still, I'd prefer 16" wheels and tires.

If I hadn't just mounted the new tires yesterday, I'd say "Let's DO it."
Mounted tires/wheels cost more to ship.
South of Dallas if you want to discuss the idea.
