I have flushed mine a couple of times already and added the lucas stop slip. It was fine for a couple of hundred miles then started acting up again.

+1 to the software updates

Per Volvo, they can also reset the software so the trans can "learn" how you drive.

I didn't know they had stop-slip. I'm going to check that stuff out. I drained most of the fluid and replaced it with the Mobil 3309 stuff today. I'm going to see if there is an improvement. My fluid was not brown or black, just a very very dark maroon/red.

I bought some of this stuff today and added it after I got home. I added 12 oz since it said to use that much for compact and sub-compacts. It said add it to a running engine so I did. I only drove up and down the driveway and when I shifted into reverse I heard a faint high-pitch screeching sound, but it went away when the car moved. Same when I shifted into drive. I'm not sure if it was there before adding the Lucas goo though. I haven't driven it yet and wont until tomorrow morning, but that stuff is really thick.

I'll post tomorrow morning after I get to work. There's no danger in that stuff being put in there I hope. I figure if you used it, it can't be that bad I did some searching on the web and couldn't find anything bad about it.

I drove 50miles this morning with the Lucas stuff and it did improve the high rpm slipping dramatically. It's almost non-existant now. Usually it would slip a bit in the 5 to 6k range when shifting from 1rst to 2nd, but now it doesn't slip at all.

I'll post an update later on in miles to see if it still works or if it stops working as tech's did. The only slipping problems I had was in that range and under heavy acceleration. I learned how much I can push it before it slips so I know how to control it, but it's not a sports car (unfortunately) so I don't expect it to act as such.

So i love Lucas Trans Stop Slip but i read and have been told to never add addictives. is this right? i would have used the Lucas months ago! even the manual says "do not add addictive" so my question is, is this justa way that they can hurry up the engine and transmission problems and the dealer get the money? or should we really not add that stuff? is fuel injector cleaner ok?

Fuel injector cleaner is good.
Alot of dealers do flushes and add additives as well.

Here is a link to the transmission additive:

I've used Lucas Oil's injection cleaner as well:

I'm not sure if the fuel additive worked (it seems to but hard to tell) but I know the trans one does without a doubt.

I've put about 700 to 800 miles on the car so far with the Lucas stop-slip stuff (I drive about 90 to 100 miles a day). So far, it's still working. It seems the more miles you drive after adding it the smoother it has become. Maybe it just takes time to mix in well with the fluid, but who knows. I just know the slipping is almost non-existant now and it's shifting like brand new, so I may just leave it as is for a while instead of changing the fluid, or just wait a bit longer.

At first it was shifting a bit abruptly but that has gone away. I thought it was the cold weather, but this morning was the coldest day this fall and it was fine as long as you let it warm up a couple of minutes before you drive away.

Mine used to do it about 2-3 times a week between 2nd and 3rd. Four months later after a flush and it hasn't do it once and the shifting is smoother, they also fixed the ECU problem when it revs up and down when at idle.
