Default Trunk lid wiring 2008 s60

Have a 08 s60,been having some trouble lately, see my other posts if you want,Was looking in the trunk for something and noticed the wires that go from the body to the trunk lid were cracked looking, the wires attach to the trunk hinge, where you can see them the casing is broke and the wires are visable in the case, the white one is broke, but it does not have copper wire in it,it has what looks like string, not copper wire, the car is a base model,no bluetooth or GPS,the remote opens the lid ok,the button opens the lid too.any one know what it is for, should i be concerned or is it OK the way it is,i have been having hard start issues with it,does anyone think it could be related,i can get pictures if needed, the harness goes to the fuse box in the trunk, havent checked to see if it is a "live wire". thanks Harvey

It's not causing your hard start. It's only for the switch, lock motor and license plate bulbs.
