Default Turn Signal Flasher Issue

I am having an issue with the turn signals in my 2002 Volvo S-60. I just took it in for service and told the dealer that from time to time the turn signals will skip or speed up and then it quits. They could not duplicate it so they changed the bulbs in the rear . Well its doing it again and every car I have every had that had this issue it was a bad flasher. Problem is I can't find a flasher so I'm confused. Does anyone know what this issue is? By the way I am new at this site and glad I found it. Thanks for any help.

It could be one of 2 things. Either the front turn signal sockets are bad. Look at them and see what color they are. Grey are original but if they are brown they have the updated sockets. If you have the updated sockets then I would say it is th turn signal switch.

Those are the common problems with the turn signals on the S60 and V70.

P.S. I moved it to the S60 section.

Thanks Tech ! I will check out the sockets today. Seems logical. Does the Volvo S-60 has a flasher or is it the combination switch that I find when I look up parts on parts sites. And where is it located? Thanks again.

The flashing is controlled by the computer on your car.

Default Turn signal issue

I have an 09 s60 with 106k miles. I replaced the turn signal switch. The original was failing on and off. After installing the new switch nothing is working. I reinstalled the old switch and still nothing is working. Fuses are good. Any suggestions???

Same problem. No turn signals and no brights. Replaced turn signal switch from O'Reilly and even tried a good used one from a XC90 and replaced hazard light switch which does work but does have something to do with it going by the wiring diagram. Seems like the CEM is the most likely the issue. I have a subscription to Mitchell1/ProDemand awesome wiring diagrams but it doesn't have anything about the turn signals being a problem yet I've seem numerous complaints online with no silver bullet (No diagnosis and I can't find anything about this other than the problem). I have a Autel Maxsys Ultra so I can pull codes but they aren't normal codes DD51 which does point to the SWM, but I swapped out a known good SWM and still nothing. Anyone figure this thing out as the local Dealer here isn't of any use.

Update. Swapped out SWM from earlier S60 (2005). Used the whole stalk (turn signal / wiper lever) Worked great. No programming required. Would have swore it was the CEM because I tried a SWM from a Pull-A-Part vehicle and it didn't work, likely it was bad also.
