Default Turn signals issue....

I receive the position light error when use both the right and left turn signals. I have replaced all the bulbs and used bulb grease when changing each bulb.

Randomly the turn signals work fine, but innevitably they end up blinking fast before too long.

While reading other posts I see that the bulb sockets in front need replacing often. I was leaning towards doing this but then I realized that when I turn on the emergency flashers, the bulbs blink appropriately. This leads me to believe it's the turn signal switch.

Can this be replaced by a layman?

I bought this car CPO, and the dealer replaced the turn signal arm prior to the warranty expiring. However it was a different arm than the original. It worked, so I didn't question it. It has extra buttons and a rotating collar that were not on the original.

Could the dealer putting in the wrong one be the culprit? I don't trust this dealer, and not sure I'd pursue it if it was their doing.

Otherwise I'll try the sockets in front.

Thanks in advance.

OK, when you turn the collar on the stalk does it give you any mpg estimates, miles to empty, etc. This would be a good this because now you have "trip". If not, well maybe.

anyways, the sockets need to be replaced if they are the old style. They will come with new bulbs and they are BROWN sockets, not white. If you have brown ones now, you are ok.
