I have a 2013 R design S60.
I recently realized the heater is not working properly. The heat coming out of the vent, driver's, passenger's, in the middle, whatever are so weak in terms of strength. The temperature was somewhat warm though.
When I set the temp HI and turned on the blower to its maximum strength, I hear the air blowing sound but can't feel anything from the vent.
Luckily, the defroster and vents above dashboard were still working, had enough power and warmth eventually warmed up everything so I just had to tolerate coldness for a bit so it was not really big a problem.
Now I want to fix this, and I thought it was a thermostat or blow motor/ resistor probelm. But I just found out that A/C is working perfectly fine in terms of temperature and strength. It automatically changes temp/strength according to outside temp, so I guess it's not about the blower motor/resistor nor thermostat.
What else I could possibly think of?
O is I can feel air blowing, X is, there is no air blowing
assuming the 2013 is set up similar to the older models, the HVAC airflow is managed by a set of blend doors - each with their own controller motor. The climate control computer and dials control the motor to route the airflow. Normally when something is wrong with a motor or other input signals, a fault code will be set (on the older cars, the AC and REC lights would flash indicating an ECC fault). It is possible that one of the blend doors disconnected from its controller. If you are getting heat and air flow to the floor but not to the upper vents, then I'd suspect one of the doors is not actuating correctly.

Thank you for the reply.
I will get Vida/Dice and check the codes as soon as possible.
Does that signal can be detected in the normal OBD2 reader?
For the HVAC, is there any good guidance Youtube videos you know?
Again thank you so much for your insight. I would definitely check the HVAC.
Have ever had the cabin filter replaced?
Clogged filter will not let proper air flow. The blower will work its back side off and sound like it but no air flow.
