Thermostat ??
Yesterday my blower motor ceased working, made a few grindy sounds and stopped blowing all together
i tested the resistor and it seems fine so i located a replacement blower motor.
when i was driving to work yesterday i noticed my water temp gauge was not reading and i'd been driving for a while. could blower failure and no water temp reading be related?? and whats broke to not read my water temp

RE: Thermostat ??
Sounds like a coincidence. The thermostat needs to be replaced as well as the blower motor.
There are some cars that wont allow the blower motor to work until the engine temp/outside air temp reach a certain temp, but I doubt this applies to your car.
What year is your V70?

No florida/canada make no difference.
If its stuck open it needs to be replaced. You can remove the T-stat cover -located at the engine end of the top coolant hose- and if the you know the motor is cold then the T-stat should be closed. However the T-stat may not have this symptom and still be the problem. They cost about $20; if I wasgonna do the work I'd put one in.

RE: Thermostat ??
okay i replaced the thermostat and flushed rad. water temp reading is back, you were correct - stuck open
so i reinstalled my blower to see and it fired up, ran for a few seconds then went off. heard a couple clicks later.
so i went to the local batteryguy and determined the alternator is going, belt is to its extreme as well.
you think thats my problem, blower pulling too much and it shuts off? its gotta be my alternator and belt.
thanks for your help, I appreciate it. any pics of an alternator swap?
