Used 2005 S60 Oil and Gas Choices
I Had posted this question in the general thread category. I am hoping that I may get more responses here from those of you who are S60 owners. Thanks.
Just bought a used 2005 Volvo S60 2.5T FWD with 46,000 miles from a Volvo dealer, and am confused by what type of oil and grade of gas to put in the car.
The manual states 5w30 oil, and 91 Octane. Friends of mine tell me to use Synthetic Oil and Premium Gas for best performance.
The dealer tells me that regular oil, and regular gas are perfectly fine for that Turbo engine as it was designed to be run on that particular oil and gas.
Being that the engine has the Turbo what would be your recommendations?
What do you use?
The dealer put in fresh 5w30 when the car was being prepped.

i say stick with full synthetic oil 5W30. Its good for the turbo engines. As for the gasoline. it depends i used high octane sometime. But i always use the medium grade octane. AND use a good quality gas station like shell, chevron, texaco bp..etc. The one that are Top Teir gas stations. You will be fine with mid grade octane

Are you looking for a vote or the facts? Since most people don't understand octane, you'll get a wide range of opinions on it. The fact is the car does not require anything higher than 87 octane.
It also does not require synthetic oil. You can use regular oil or synthetic or a blend. The more important part is that it is clean.
