Vibrations While Accelerating
Hi All,
I have a 2001 S60 T5, with 145,000 km.
There is light to medium front wheel vibration on during acceleration at around 100-120 km/h. Disappears on deceleration, much less noticeable on cruise control. Interesting to note is that there is no vibration below 90 or over 120 km/h or when I let go of gas pedal.
There are few opinions I have received:
- loose engine and transmission mounts which makes the engine vibrations transfer
- bad cv joint with torn boot
- front wheel balancing and alignment
What are your thoughts on this? Any comments are appreciated.

First thing I'd do is have the tires re-balanced. It's easy and cheap.
Could possibly be the CV joints. There easy enough to visually check to see if the boot is indeed torn.
You'll notice increased vibration at idle if it was the engine and trans bushings. Those are easy enough to check your self.
