Default Volv s60-2002-200horsepower-Acbroke!

HI

Standing with a s60 volvo 2002, with 200 horsepower enginge, and suddenly my car stopped and didnt want to start. Took off the serpentine belt and noitced that
the wheel on the ac didnt move. To change ac is something i rather do during the summer when the car is home, my daughter has the car down south. I have heard that it maybe should be
possible to just ignore the ac wheel and get a shorter serpentine belt and just not use the ac. Is this possible?

Thx for answers and help.

yes its possible on some cars to bypass the AC compressor - not sure about the 2002 5 cylinders. If the compress wheel seems stuck it may mean the AC clutch is frozen or engaged. What happens if you disconnect the power connector from the AC compressor? At any rate this vid suggests you can't bypass the compressor the same way as is possible on earlier models...

Last option is to see if somebody markets a custom idler pulley to replace the compressor.

The alternator spins counterclockwise with a normal belt. Both of those"alternate" routes spin the alternator clockwise and would not give enough "traction". Might be possible - don't know. If your car did not have ac, Volvo has a bracket and idler pulley in the parts catalog that fits where the compressor is. (#9 and 10)

After a new compressor is installed (generally the Drier is replaced also whenever the system is opened, but does not HAVE to be replaced) -

A vacuum pump is used to remove all the air and moisture from the system. Then it would be best to do a vacuum leak test - to make sure the vacuum holds before you charge the system. Next the appropriate amount of r134 is added. Usually a new compressor comes with the correct amount of oil in it so no additional is needed. A typical refrigerant machine will do all those steps in about an hour. Then hopefully you will have cold air - but something made the compressor go bad - and you won't be able to test the only other moving part in the system, the expansion valve, until the system is recharged.

Question?
how much oil, pag 46 should you have in the Volvo s60 2002? Have asked and checken all internet. Answers goes like, the same amount that was in it. My ac was dry, like a marriage after 20 years. Super dry. Then i found that you should put around 70ml, or 3 ounces that should be like a deciliter in Swedish measurement. Is that correct?
Thx for answers Nicklas
