Volvo S60 D3 MPG figures
Hi all,
Recently purchased a 2011 S60 SE LUX with the D3 engine and I'm pretty dissapointed with the MPG. I know the 5 pot isnt going to be as efficient as the newer 4 pot engines but looking at other peoples results mine still seems low.
I have a daily commute of 65 miles which is a combination of A road driving and dual carriageways with occasional slow moving queues. I use regular diesel, no passengers and no other loads in car. Regularly use radar guided cruise and drive like miss daisy.
I'm now 3 tanks in and only getting 38 MPG. Car has had a full service 3 months ago, 4 matching good tread tyres pumped up to 36PSI.
Any other obvious things I should check / replace? Or is this an acceptable economy?

Volvo's fact sheet shows 5.3L/100km (44 MPG ) highway and 5.9 L/100km city (38K MPG) so I think your in range. Since the car is new to you, have you done any baseline tuning (ie oil change, fuel filters, injector cleaner etc)? Did you get an emissions test done and was that clean?
I have a 2011 S60 d3 163 geartronic which is giving some quite low mpg figures. My experience laptop is showing 33.Four mpg average that's a mixture of B roads, dual carriageway and city use. I recognize the geartronic will impact the mpg but 33 is extraordinarily low. I even have these days parted with my old mk4 mondeo 2.0 tdci which would return 39mpg riding like I stole it. I have been pretty mild with the S60 due to the fact getting it so a lead foot isn't the trouble . The mondeo was a bigger car and to be sincere I predicted a chunk less gas financial system due to the auto gearbox, but 33 is ridiculous. Is there any recognized troubles or updates that would assist with my mpg woes.
