Default Volvo S60 Life span

Im looking to buy a used Volvo s60(2001-2002) with about 120k miles on it. Now im wondering if this car will last me a long time.

What are some very common things that break in this car while driving up to 250k miles? Will there be a lot of maintenance to it? How would the maintenance of it compare to the Camry's? Do parts cost a lot more?

I previously owned 2 camry's and i only had to do minimal maintenance for them and they went up to 250k miles each.(Oil change, brake pads, timing belt).

Can anyone give me their input on how long their S60 lasts and if they had a lot of maintenance to be done? Thanks

I love my Volvo...it was rough at first but i have grown to love it. If you keep the oil changes, brakes, timing belt...etc...volvo may last u long as u want it to. It all depends on what u are willing to do to keep it running. Parts do cost more because it is considered to be a premium brand that competes with bmw mercedes lexus.

Im a pretty casual driver who doesnt really slam on the gas but do slam on the breaks sometimes.

However, i think the previous owner drives the car pretty fast... i wonder how much that would have effected the car..

Stay away from 01-02 S60 Trany issues. If you look around at most if not all Volvo forums you will find 100s of post/ thread of guys with Tansmission issues and most have 01-02 s60s.Volvo chnaged some small things starting in 03. Im not telling you every 01-02 will have an issue but why take the change. The cost to fix can be more than the car is worth.http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/for...php?f=9&t=4864
