Thanks for your help. I didn't know that they put solid lifters as standard package in late models anymore.

If you're worried about adjusting them, don't be. I've never seen one that had a problem. Unless someone took it apart and put them back randomly.

Not worried. Have to replace several bent valves due to timing belt breaking. probably replace all of the lifters, as well. May go ahead and replace all of the valves. Just surprised to see that my lifters are solid. Always assumed most volvos had hydraulic. Vin # will tell me for sure.

Well if you are replacing the valves, you may need new lifters anyway. They are different thicknesses so you'll have to measure the clearance and calculate the sizes you need for each one.

I'm going to leave that up to the machinist who will rebuild my head. Thanks for the heads up though. You sound very knowledgeable on these volvos, though. Watch for a post. I may need some help before I get through this. Thanks for all of your advice.

Yeah some machine shops will adjust the valves so if they will, I'd recommend that.
