Water in the gas tank what next wonk start..

Default Water in the gas tank what next wonk start..

Hi I have a 03 s60t that cranks but wont start. I saw that I had water in the gas so I pulled the fuel pump and syfen the gas out also took out the gas filter and now I just want to make sure there's nothing else to do before I button 🔘 it up thanks brian

I would disconnect the fuel rail and drain it of its fuel. There is a valve to relief the pressure on the left side of it. Has a gray/green tire valve like cap on it. Also see if you can siphon the fuel from the line going to the rail to remove as much of the water contaminated fuel as possible. I believe they make additives to help with this for small engines, I wonder if they make them suitable for cars as well.

you can buy "dry gas" ie products like Heet at any auto parts store. Its mostly isopropyl alcohol to get the water to mix with the gas and burn off. That should be good enough to get rid of any accumulated condensation. However if you had some vandal drop some water into your tank, you may need to drain the tank. one thought would be to remove the fuel line, up front and feed into a clear container (you can run the pump by jumpering the relay) to see if you see mostly water or mostly gas.
