Default Is this what a tire patch should look like

Hi, I just came home from getting a tire repaired on my S60. Tire had a screw in it. I’ve never needed a tire replaced so don’t know if this looks ok. Thanks!

Not a patch. It looks like an old school tire plug that they did not cut off close to the tread like it should be.
Certainly not a one piece tire patch and plug repair where the tire is removed and a patch with a plug is used.

A patch is put on the inside on the tire. Take tire off, remove nail, buff rubber to roughen it up, apply glue, dry glue, apply patch, roll patch in, remount and balance tire. there is nothing visible in the tread after a plain patch is installed.

That's a plug. Might work, might come out at 90mph. Your choice. Hopefully you didn't pay for that.

A plug is fine when done properly. This job does not look correct. The plug should be flush with the rest of the tread. Go to a reputable tire installer to see if this can be fixed, such as Discount Tire.
