I have a 2009 S60. I've noticed that the outside trim over the rear doors has a section missing and there's a weird piece of metal there (which appears to have started to rust). What is that?

 

Hard to tell from the picture but I suspect that it could be the roof load bar mount.

 

The photo is over the left rear door, just to the right of the center of the door. Same thing is on the other side of the car. What is a roof load bar mount? Sounds like something used to connect a factory installed roof rack ????

 

Seems to be where roof racks would hook up to.
