Default Wheels upgrade...

I am looking to get some 18" wheels (black with a polished lip) for my S60 AWD. I currently have the 17" Thor wheels. The wheel I have decided on is the Stern ST-1 Face III Beast.

I am looking to find out what the specs are on the Thor wheel. Width? Offset? I need to make sure the new wheels fit correctly. I'm also curious to know how wide I can go. I know it rubs at full lock with the 17's, has the limit already been reached?

The car will look kinda like this

and just for good measure, here's what the stock wheels would look like if they were made in the style I am looking for.

I don't have any answers to your questions, but can I buy one of the Thor's? I'd like a regular sized spare for my AWD.

By the way, those are some sweet looking 18's!

When I get the new wheels, probably. IT won't be for a few months. I wnat to wait until my current tires are a little more worn. I can't justify doing it yet...

Well, let me know what you would need for one or for all 4 when you get to that point.

Thanks - P

notny41... where are you located. I have a set of (4) 17" Thor wheels from my 02 s60 AWD. One is damaged beyond repair (I think), but the other (3) are nice with only normal signs of use for about 70K miles. I hit a rock over the summer which punctured through the (1) tire and rim both. Instead of paying the $400 for the replacment wheel from the dealer, I bought aftermarkets similar to the ones that KJV is looking at. I've been trying to get motivated to clean them up to sell on ebay, but it's too cold up here in MI. Let me know if you're still interested in buying a spare... maybe we can work something out. Make me an offer for one, or for the whole set if you want. You would of course have to pay shipping as well. I can get pics if you'd like, but the wheels are fairly dirty right now, since I live on a dirt road, and like I said, I haven't gotten around to cleaning them.

Sorry to hijack your post KJV... the wheels that you're looking at look good.I got enkies, black with the silver rim. They look sharp. Also, here is another car that I use as my desktop background with similar wheels. They look like 18's though.

Good luck with your choice.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. Must not have had the notify option checked on my last post.

I'm in Minnesota (55016).

Primarily looking for a correct sized spare. I have one bright silver Thor on my car and the other 3 are the silver grey color. It would be ideal if the one I bought for a spare matched the other 3 in color. Then I could use the bright silver one as the spare.

Let me know what you are looking to get for one + shipping. Thanks!

Well, I wasn't aware that there were two different finishes on thor wheels. How can we be sure that the ones that I have are the same as the (3) silver grey that you have on your car? I don't have anything to compare them with. I don't think I have any pictures of my car with the original rims, so It would be difficult to tell from a pic of the rim alone. As far as price, I think $140 for a rim is fair... let me know what you think. As far as shipping goes, I really don't know becuase I dont' ship things often. I will find out actual cost, and let you know if you are still interested. Idon't have time right now,but I will post a pic of the rim up this afternoon.

Do you have more than one of these then or should I be bidding on it on ebay?

It looks as if it is the bright silver. That's better than nothing though. I can handle having matching bright silver on one side and the sliver grey on the other.

Thanks!

I have three of these that are good. I just figured that I would putone up on ebay, since ebay can protect both of our interests. I'm also not sure exactly what they're worth, so I figured I would list it on ebay just for the sake of finding out. The reserve is at $95. If you prefer to make the purchase some other way, let me know.

Another thing you could consider, if you wanted to put the effort into it is buying all three of my rims so that you have a matching set of (4) bright silver ones. Then you could turn around and sell your darker ones. If you want to consider that, Iwould part for all (3) for under $400, and I will pay shipping. If you want to do this, please let me know before the end of the auction or else I will only have (2) remaining (obviously).

Thanks

It's worth that much to me just to have a full size spare of my own and sell the other threefor scrap. I'll just hang on to them for now and maybe list on ebay again later. Thanks.
