Where to get (18") tires?

Where to get (18") tires?
This has always been an issue, but now it seems chronic. What's the basic deal?
Go to Consumer Reports and read up on the best 4 or 5 tires in a given category (eg, All-Season, etc.).
Go to Tire Rack (or anyplace else online) to find one in your size.
Fail.
Then the tires you do see in your size on TR and other places cost like 2X as much as what you were reading about on CR. Granted, the CR ratings are probably done on 15" or 16" tires, but still. I can't even find any of the top 5 all season tires in my size (235 40r18) anywhere.
