where's the oil filter??

Default where's the oil filter??

I give up ... this is my first volvo and I'm very mechanically inclined but I cannot find where the darn oil filter is located.
I have an 06 S60 AWD. FCT Groton who sold me the filters wasn't any help. I noticed there is also a huge plastic shroud that isolates the road from the engine/tranny ... hoping this does not need to be removed.

Don't know about that link, it didn't specify the S60 and its not accessible for the top of the engine compartment.

On the S60 that plastic shroud on the bottom needs to be removed first. Then you'll see the filter canister on the passenger side of the engine block.

Well that explains why I couldn't see it. Maybe this is premature, but the Design for Servicability seems ill conceived. This entire plastic covering must be removed? I'm thinking a quick modification with a hole saw may be in order.

Vary common on many of the Euro vehicles requiring removal of the splash pan to access the oil filter housing..........both my Volvos S60 and V70 have this. On my Benz, the oil filter housing is top side in the engine compartment with super easy access, however, the oil drain plug is behind the engine splash pan so alternatively some people use a hand pump to remove the oil during oil changes through the dip stick tube.
