White smoke, heavy load, especially when turning left
I have a 2002 Volvo S60 with the standard 2.4L Inline 5 with 60,000 miles on it.
Here is my problem.
When I accelerate to get into traffic there is white smoke occasionally. It seems to happen more so when I am turning left to merge into traffic.
Brought it to a mechanic that I trust and he believes that it is a failure of the Volvo Anerobic sealant where the two halves of the engine come together. It's a multiple $1000 dollar job to fix.
What I am looking for is any advice on the problem and how to fix it, thinking inside or outside of the box.
Thank you

Do a google search on...volvo head gasket. Basically you have a gasket/sealant that goes between your head and block. If it fails, coolant can get into where it's not allowed to be. I do almost everything...but I would hate to do this job. I'm sorry to hear.
