Default 1998 Volvo S70 N/A PCV ISSUE

I've recently purchased a N/A Volvo S70 and noticed that the snake hose that is fed up through the manifold is just sitting on the valve cover. Not connected to anything. Gases expel from the hose but I'm sort of at a loss as to whether its safe to leave it like this. Any knowledgeable help would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to driving this car for a long time!

That hose was obviously added after the rigid line broke. One end goes to the intake snorkel on the flame trap and the other end goes to the nipple on the end of the intake manifold. If that line was broken the rest of the system likely isn't in very good shape. I would budget for a new kit and replace it all.

Before you spend $175 on the whole kit check all of the hoses. You can buy just the Oil Trap unit that goes under the intake manifold for about $30 (eBay, rmeuropean, eeuroparts). Check all the hoses to see if any are cracked and might be leaking. I have three Volvo's and have done this operation on all my cars and a few others and have yet to replace anything but the oil trap and the occasional vacuum elbow. Parts on these cars can add up quick.

Patches will usually bite you sooner or later.
