2000 S70 *new owner
Hi, I have just sold my 2000 Audi A6 wagon due to 21 average MPG and a new school with a longer commute. I have just picked up a very clean one owner 2000 S70 non-turbo SE with 50k, my first volvo; although I had a 1999 Saab 9-5, which was nice. I have had the car for about a week and am very impressed with the drivability and M.B. like build quality! Gas MPG is an unbelievable solid 27.5 with somewhat spirited driving; and at the moment gas is about 2.20 a gallon in the Northeast tri-state. Look forward to being a part of this community, and although my knowledge lies in VW/Audi products, I will try to contribute as much as possible.
How do most of you find their FWD S70s to be in snow, with (I will be running blizzaks) or without a dedicated snow tire; the wet/winter mode is nice as I have used it already in rain. I am use to AWD and in the Northeast snow can be abundant.

As far as snow driving is concerned for years I drove around in my S70 with just all season rubber (and I live in NH). Several years ago I put snows on the car and that's definitely the way to go. A lot less slipping and sliding around with the snows. You really don't need AWD with snow tires on a FWD Volvo. As you can tell from my sig I'm a bit of an S70 fanatic. IMHO it's the best car Volvo ever produced....I can't vouch for performance of the winter mode of the auto tranny as all my cars are 5-speeds..
