Default 2nd timing belt interval ???

Hello to all, i am a new owner of a 1998 s70, the person i bought the car from had the timing belt changed at 75k. I now have close to 130k on the car, when should the timing belt be replaced for the second time??? Also, i have this light that stays on inside my dash that says "service", i thought it would go out after i changed the oil but it didn't, what is up with that??? Any responses are appreciated in advance....

Hi Saved_one, welcome to the Forum.

A new timing belt at any age can never hurt, only help. A lot cheaper to replace the belt than the alternative outcome. Regarding the Service Light see the following linked post. I'm not sure these instructions will work on a 98, but give it a try. https://volvoforums.com/m_2801/tm.htm

The belts need to be done every 75,000 miles I think.

You can not reset the Service Light on the 97 and 98 model years, only done by the dealer. The timing belt interval is every 70K or 5 years whichever comes first. If I were you I would have it changed and then you know you are good for another 5 years or 70K.

Not only do you need to replace the belt but you also should replace the tensionors and idler pully also. Because if they go bad it will damage the engine.
