Default 98 s-70 Losing Power

My 1998 S-70,no-turbo 5 cyl, automatic, w/ a 139,000 has a "sometimes" problem of losing power. On the 2 hr trip home from Dallas where I bought it, I started to pass a car, mashed on the accelerator, and it actually lost power. I was afraid to stop the car, since I did not know the vehicle. The farther I went the worse the car got. It would not even pull the small hills on interstate. I kept watching the temp, thinking stopped up converter, but temp never rose past midway.I finally pulled over, killed the car, & checked under the hood. After a couple of minutes, I re-started the car & it ran fine. I only paid a grand for the car, so I have a little room for repairs. I love Volvos, having put 271,000 on a 91 740, but these "Volvo quirks" make me nuts. Any advice or help appreciated. Thanks,
Steve

Hi !! check the "lambda" at the exhaust. Similar facts with my S70 and the cause was there.
Change for new one and run smooth again.
