98 s70 4way flasher/alarm problems
I have a 98 s70 non turbo GLT which has started to have some 4way flasher problems. I know that this year car does not have the immobilizer system, but after locking the car via the keyfob within 3 minutes the 4way flashers start going and after 5 minutes they stop. I have read many ideas on what the problem might be and of course Volvo wants you to bring it in. One idea is the 210/211 relay which i have read can be jumped to turn the alarm off all together. 1st Is this true? 2nd does anyone know the Volvo part number for the dummy relay jumper?
I'm pretty sure all of the Volvo's have the alarm and immobilizer. Something is triggering the alarm. If you don't hear the horn it is messed up or loose. Near the upper torque mount/firewall.
Thanks for the reply. The dealer told me that the 1998 did not have the immobilizer, that it became available in 1999. They also have never heard of the "DUMMY RELAY 210/211". But in other posts I have read people saying Volvo sells it. I guess I need to get the part number for it.
When people write IMMOBILIZER, I thing that means that the car will NOT start if the alarm is tripped. Heck, my '95 does that, all of my 960's did and surely our S70 does. You should find out what is causing the alarm to trigger.
