Default 98 S70 GLT

I recently posted about a 98 S70 T5 turbo 5-speed but that deal went through the floor. So I found a really good deal on a 98 S70 GLT and i should be picking it up end of this week early next week. Everything that usually goes around 100k has been repaired or replaced so that is not the problem. I want to add some performance stuff so i can get more torque and HP. After reading threads for hours at a time i found that the first thing i should do is Stage 0. I am planning to put a chip and new exhaust but i am not sure what to do first or if it matters. Is there anything else i should do?
By the way im 16 with a part time job so i dont have loads of money to spend but i definetly am looking to gain performance.

Thanks in advance

You will not get the performace from the GLT that you will get from the T5. It has the Low Pressue Turbo vs. the High Pressure Turbo. It has 190 HP vs. 236 for the T5. The very last thing you want to do is the chip. Stage 0 first followed by exhaust then the chip. You might want to do more research though on what exactly is available and what you can do with the GLT. I'm not sure.

Well, I would do the stage 0, then get the EST ultraflow intake, then the speedtunning chip, then the EST reversed intercooler, the the exhaust. If everything was already repalced at 100k then you dont need to do the stage zero. Get the reversed intercooler setup which elminates the need for samco silicon hoses adnw ill give you a performance increase. The speed tunning chip is $325 and you will deffinatly feel that.

1. You do need to do STAGE ZERO. Even if things were replaced I bet not everything was. Inlcuding turbo hoses and vaccum lines. Replace these with Silicone versions. The turbo hoses can be bought from Viva Performance and they sell the SAMCO brand. StylinMotors Inc. also sells turbo hoses. I have theirs and love them. SAMCO and StlyinMotors Inc. are both made of silicone. Also you can get the silicone vaccum lines from StylinMotors Inc. as well. Also in STAGE ZERO you need to get a boost gauge. One that can read at least 25 In Hg and 25PSI. Eguages.com sells good gauges at great prices. I recommend Autometer. I love mine.

2. You want to do your catback system before you do your ECU upgrade. Also you will see the most performance increase in power via a 3" downpipe. The catback system will add power but you will see the most power via a 3" downpipe. You can buy these from a few places on the internet and I would look into a local muffler shop fabbing you one up. Mandrel bent of course. If your not upgrading your turbo to something bigger then stick with a 2.5" mandrel bent catback system which can be bought from a few places online and again I recommend you look into a local shop. One that can mandrel bend pipe. A 3" downpipe to a 2.5" catback system with give you nice sound and some nice power as well.

3. K&N panel filter and or replace your OEM paper filter with a brand new one. You can also try the EST intake kit. Produces great sound and some nice throttle response as well. Or create your own intake system.

4. The reverse intercooler kits are crap. You will hardly gain any performance from these. Waste of close to $400.

5. Last thing you want to do is your ECU upgrade. If you do this last the tuner can take into affect all the other mods you have done to the car. RICA, IPD, Upsolute, Inmotion, SpeedTuning USA. These are the companies to look into. I highly recommend RICA and IPD. Yeah they are the most exspensive, but have the most research and developement into their ECU upgrades.
