Default 98 S70 stalling

Hello everyone.
My girlfriend just bought a 1998 S70 and is very happy with it. Problem is that the car has started to stall when stopping at a light or pulling out of a driveway. Doesn't allways happen, but it happened to her 3 times today. Car starts right back up and runs fine. SERVICE light comes on when car is started. I'm good at wrenching, but no so good at finding the problem. Can I get the car to blink codes or does it have to get hooked up? Need help with the stalling issue. Heard cleaning the throttle body might help. Service engine light can not be reset on the 98 s70 without takking it to the dealer? Thanks for any input...

Get an OBII reader and see what the codes are.

Don't worry about the Service light though. That comes on every 5,000 miles to say it's time for an oil change. It only stays on for about two minutes after initial startup. The ODB-II reader will read codes that cause the Check Engine Light to come on and you can read them then turn the off. Let us know what the codes are.

We have a checkers that might do it for free. No auto zone though. I heard that the codes might not be the same as the volvo mechanics codes? Service engine light would come on if codes were generated right??? No service engine light is on. Only the service light. Thanks....

Ok. Got the car checked out. It's the turbo edition and she has been putting regular gas in it not premiuim. Not sure if this has anything to do with the problem. Code is P-0243 Waste gate solenoid A. Any ideas???

I always use regular 87 octane in my turbos. I know I should use premium, but I can't bring myself to paying and extra $.25 per gallon. Even after tech told me I will eventually burn a valve because of the low octane. My cars run fine and get the exact same mpg no matter what octane gas I use. I have experimented with that several times. I don't truse the octane ratings on the pumps to be honest so I just buy the cheapest available.

It seems the issue may be leaky hoses to BCS or faulty BCS (Boost Control Solenoid). What do you guys think???
