98 S70 starter lags sometimes

98 S70 starter lags sometimes

My car seems to have issues starting once in a while. It always starts but sometimes it takes a couple seconds to fire up when you turn the key. Anybody know what this could be??

Does it take a few seconds for the starter to kick in or is it cranking and takes a little while to fire up?

It's cranking but takes a bit to fire up about every few times when going to start the car

Does it crank slow? If so, ck the battery; if it's good probably time for a starter rebuild.

Is engine in good state of tune (stage 0)? Recent compression test? Etc.
