98 s70 won't start, it almost starts when hitting the gas
Greetings,
This afternoon, the car wouldn't start. Actually, it started, ran for about 10 seconds, stalled, then ran for a second or two upon restart. Now, it won't start. If I keep hitting the gas when I am turning it over, it will seem like it wants to start, but won't fire up.
What do you think? Fuel filter? Mass Air flow sensor? Vacuum lines?
Will the car run with the MAF disconnected?
Anyone got clues?
Thanks,
Timk. 98 S70 GLT.

The car will run with it unplugged. The computer goes into limp home mode.
Anyway you can get a scanner to try to read codes?

I unplugged the MAF and got it running. I can get codes checked at the autoparts place. Do you know what the output voltage would be for this MAF?I would like to test this onebefore I spring for a new one and that may take a couple of days. As soon as I reconnect the MAF, the engine quits instantly, so the computer must think there is no air and it cuts the fuel.
Would you drive the car in limp mode for very long?

I wouldn't drive it for long at all.
Not really sure I know the compensation should be 3 volts.
I don't have the info home for the rest.
