Default Adding a turbo

I was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to add a turbo to a Volvo S70 Base. I'd like to add one just for fun and because I feel like doing something mechanical. But maybe I really just don't know what I'm talking about... ha

I don't know if this question has already been addressed but thanks for any answers!

Well you could. But it would be hella expensive. Turbo's are not plug and play. you would need all the supporting equipment

Intercooler
all the hoseses and tubing that goes along with a turbo
a new ecu
and new internals

Thats just a few. If you do a search for 'performance' or 'turbo' you will see many answers on what to do for performance for your s70.
Good luck

Buy a turbo car. Unless you have some really good mechanical skills, this isn't something you do because your bored and want to do something mechanical. You wouldn't necessarily need new internals, because the GLT's and the N/A's have the same motor, but by the time your done you'll basically have done an entire engine bay swap.

If you want to do something mechanical, add an air intake or exhaust, but even then, the gains on an N/A are minimal.

Yes it is. And something that had just came to my attention while doing some research about adding a turbo to an N/A motor. First off, the n/a motors are not tapped for the oil cooler lines that go to and from the turbo, so you would have to drill a couple holes into the block for those. Two, everywhere I've read about adding boost to an n/a motor is doable, but they never advise going over 10 PSI, the internals are slightly different on the 2.3l and the 2.4l n/a.

This is all true. Now you could obviously upgrade your internals and possibly run slightly higher boost, but nothing ridiculous.

Yeah, you could, but in the long run it would be cheaper to swap motors, rather than spending all of the money to upgrade the internals and prepare the block for a turbo.
