I want to put an aftermarket radio in my 1998 S70, but when I went to both Best Buy and Circuit City they said they didn't carry the kits to install for my car. Can anyone tell me what exactly I need? My radio has stopped working and I'm driving in silence!

Your first mistake was going to BEST BUY and Circuit City. They do terrible work and most will refuse to work on Volvo's period.

If you have a Tweeter near by go with them. They do great work and will work on your Volvo. They did all my audio work on my old 1995 850 NA.

There could be a few things they are talking about when they said they didn't carry the kits.

1. It could just be the little pocket the goes above or underneath the single DIN CD player you would have isntalled. It is called a Metra Pocket and can be bought fairly cheap.

By the way I just searched for the Metra Pocket on GOOGLE and it came up with Circuit City and they do sell it on their website and it does fit the Volvo model s70.

2. They could be talking about bypassing the stock amp. That is if you have one. They probably don't know if you do or don't and they just don't want to mess around with it. They know Volvo's are hard to work on and most likely just don't want to deal with it so they will tell you something else.

 

Well first what kind of radio is it? 1 din or 2 din?

1 din you will need:
1 volvo wiring harness
1 in dash pocket

2 din you you will need:
1 volvo wiring harness

Their is no reason to pay somone to install your new radio. If you need help once you get the other stuff then let me know. Its very easy.

 

It'll be a single DIN. So it looks like I'll just need the Metra Pocket and the wiring harness? I don't need anything else to make it fit or sit in there right?

 

nope everything else is standard sizes.
