Default Air Conditioning

Hi
Got a '98 Volvo S70 T5 and my AC isn't working. Checked for any leaks with the dye and couldn't find any. The compressor clutch is engaging too often, but the freon pressure is stable. No cold air. Im thinking that maybe there is clog in the system. What do u guys think?

What does it mean when you say that "the clutch is engaging too often"? It should engage and stay engaged. There are several write ups on AC problems. You can also check the 850 section.

If the system is not serviced properly (proper amount of freon), it will not work right. Even if you have a leak it should work until the freon leaks out.

It might just be low on freon.

Thanks for the reply guys. The problem is that when the freon is fully charged, the compressor clutch starts engaging. After running for 10 min and restarting the vehicle, the compressor clutch doesnt engage any longer. When i check the pressure there would be a 5psi drop in pressure. I checked the line from condenser to evaporator and is cold where as the line from evaporator to accumulator id warm. I think it is the evaporator even though the dye hasnt showed any leaks.

If the high side pressure shoots up too high very quickly once the comp clutch engages, then you probably have a line/orifice obstructed. In this case the high side switch is just doing its job.

If the high side pressure doesn't go up after the clutch engages, then either the clutch is slipping (needs reshimming) or the compressor is toast.

At this moment I'm trying to get to the evaporator. I have a problem with the bolt that holds the evaporator seal and gasket. The nut seems like got stuck. If i cut it, will it do a damage? Can i replace with a different one?
