I pulled a couple antenna rings from cars in a junkyard this morning trying to fix a starting problem with a 99 S70. I read that was a possible fix but didnt need to use one as a fuel pump relay was the fix. My question is, do the key and the ring need to be programmed together or does the ring just recognize that there is a chipped key inserted in the ignition? Is the ring key specific? Would a ring from another car work in my car? Thanks in advance!

 

I replaced the immobilizer ring on 2000 v70 glt and it started but about 10 times later it no longer starts.
