RE: best tires for s70?
You can run either V-rated or H-rated tires.I think v-rated tires are rated to i think 140 mph and h-rated are rated to i think 120 mph.I personally like the michelins they ride nicer and handle better. I've seen a lot of the other brand tires go out of round pretty fast. It's up to you but like I said I like michelins.

RE: best tires for s70?
I ran MXV4's for the first 3 sets of tires on my 98 s70, and eventually tired of the low mileage, so-so performance, and high cost. I checked around (tirerack.com is a good resource) and switched to the Bridgestone RE950. I get about the same mileage (40-45K) but the handling is superb , far better than the MXV4, and the price is a little less. I'm on my second set and very pleased. But be careful...they are considered a performance tire, softer than the MXV4, and if you drive too hard, you may not get the mileage endurance. Cornering & wet road handling are great.

Does anybody here live in a area wher you get snow. if so what are the best tire to get and should i spend the extra money to have a winter set and a spring, summer, fall set. I live in southern Mass and snowy weather is usually only from mid december to early march. Most of the time on my previous cars a set of all season tires were fine. the only car which i had a winter set/summer set was my nissan 240, but it was rear wheel drive so it's a different story.

I just got my 2000 S70 GLT three months ago....the needing-replacement Michelins on her were the standard 195-60R15's, but the ride was pretty rough around NYC even with new shocks and struts.
Paving here leaves almost every person-hole cover with a 1" dip, and poorly backfilled roadway utility cuts are as rampant as the ravelling paving joints.
The Conti ProContact Extremes recommended to me on another thread aren't made in that size; but the Conti Grand Touring is. Quoted at $670 installed.
I finally went with Hankook Optimo H724's in P205-65-15's two days ago, size which an rspi said would fit OEM 15" wheels. $535 includes a $95 PepBoys rebate, and alignment. Fills the wheel wells, but no rub noticed at full lock.
Smooths out the bumps nicely, but with quite some loss of precise handling, as expected. Operating range of 31-40psi (44max); they're at 36 psi now; I'm going to kick it up to 38 psi next week to see how much nimbleness is restored.
It hasn't snowed here yet, but in wet they seem decent.
The damn tranny cooler line doesn't have enough clearance for the kind of snow that I like driving in.
