Default Cabin Air Filter

My service and owners manual both refer to changing the Cabin Air Filter on a regular basis. They don't show the location, nor does my Chiltons Manual.

Where is the Cabin Air Filter located?

The cabin filter should be replaced every 15k.It is located on the passenger side onder the wiper cowl.Open the hood and find the big plastic peice that is under where the wipers mount to the wiper motor assy.Remove the 2 torxes 25 screws on the far passenger side.Lift up on the cover and you will see the pollen filter. There is a locking tab on the front side push in on it and lift up and it will come out.

If you need anymore help let me know.

Well I went through the process to remove the cabin air filter only to discover that the part listed as a replacement on the website of AutoPartsAuthority.com is incorrect. So I am trying to find a way to match the OEM Part # with an aftermarket filter.

I was also shocked at how much of an afterthought this air filter seems to be. I unscrew some torx screws and pull up on the plastic panel. Volvo would normally put in a few clips to do something like this, especially for a part that is supposed to be replaced every 10 -15k miles.

It was a place in peice. The 93,94,95,96 850's didn't come with it from the factory. After they had problems with the evaperators they designed the filter and holder to fit into where it is.Then installed it from the factory for the years to follow for that body style. With most of the newer cars you have to remove screws to access the pollen filter.

After doing some searching using the OEM model number listed on the existing filter, original owner seems to have left it in place for 80K miles, I can only find a match from CarQuest. All of the Volvo Car Part sites list aftermarket models that don't look right in the picture and I ordered one from AutoPartsAuthority.com (Bosch P3700) that doesn't fit.

The OEM Part # is 9184130

Any suggestions.

Do you by chance have the link or the picture of the filter?Volvo used the same filter for years then just made slight changes within the past year.In the late 90's they had 1 other diffrent filte but only for a short time.

I can take a picture an post it later. My filter has a plastic ring around the outside with a retaining clip. The filters I have found online are only paper/cardboard with foam around the outer edge. They are longer than my filter by about 1/4".

Talked to my local (70+ miles away) Volvo Dealer and they found that the filter in my car (Part # 9184130) is no longer available in the U.S. They found the new part # (9171296) for me and I had them ship me the new filter. I didn't think that finding a cabin air filter would be that difficult. All of the ones from Bosch, CarQuest, etc. were not the correct ones even though their application charts listed filters for my car that in the end did not fit.

It is in the same place as the S60/V70. Search the S60/V70 S80 section it has been talked about many times.
