Default Catalytic converter?

My 1998 V70 wagon has developed a sluggish, missing running pattern associated with a sulphur smell coming from the exhaust tail pipe. Would anyone know if this is an indication of a bad catalytic converter? thanks

could be several things. problem with electronic engine control system, ignition problem, fuel pressure regulator is bad or the engine is running to hot. not positive though. sometimes there may be a high amount of sulfur in gasoline. the epa is supposed to regulate it but it differs state to state. maybe you got bad gas.

First thing to do is have the codes pulled.
