Default Check engine light

Bound to happen eventually. Question though. When I got gas, I did not put the cap back on right. I did it back on correctly but the check engine light is still on. I'm going to have it taken today to see what code is showing. If it was b/c of the cap, is there a way to clear the light w/o having the dealer do it. On my Lexus the dealer charged me $60 to clear a light. I really do not want to pay $60 if it is something as simple as me not putting the cap on correctly. Thanks. The car runs absolutely fine, and I can tell no difference at all other than the light being on.

If you have a Discount Auto Parts or Auto Zone near you have them pull the code and see if they will clear it.
Kind of play stupid till they pull the code. Then say that you left the cap loose.

Thanks Tech. I actually did a search here on "check engine light" and found the answer to my question. I disconnected the battery for a while and then reconnected, problem solved. Then my radio didnt work and I locked myself out of that. Had my code in my books, but of course I didnt think to look there until teh head unit was saying "Off". At least the book described how to fix that and 2 hours later I was radio on again. Thanks
