Check Engine Light - Emissions Sensor
I have a 98 s70 t5 with 148k on it. The check engine light (hence forth - idoit light) has been on for a few months now. When the idot light first came on, the dealer said it was a air sensor in the emissions that is activated when the key is turned to blow out any fumes that might be in the exhaust system prior to the engine firing up. Net- it does not have to be fixed to keep going. Is there any way that I can turn off the idiot light without taking it to the dealer or putting a thick piece of paper over it?
yeah mine did the same thing for the air pump which is another part of that system starting up. Now I did not mean to make teh check enengine light to go off, but when I disconnected the power for several minutes when i was installing my boost gauge I found that it did not go on anymore.
Notes:
You will need the CODE for your radio, which if you dont have it can be gotten by taking the car to volvo and having them look it up via your cars VIN. That is free to do. But on teh other hadn if your going to volvo you may jsut want to have them turn it off, if its free.
Also you gas miliege will be set to 0, the car miles will be the same.
Lastly, you will need to get that fixed before your next emissions check.

if you do what happened to me the light will never go on again for that reason. Since the trouble code had already been sent, so the part that is broken will not send it again. Just dont foget that its broken
Aleast its been a good 4 weeks n counting w/o it ever going on again.
